MARGAO: A day after his personal assistant lodged complaints against former PWD Minister Churchill Alemao and his family for possessing Portuguese citizenship, Benaulim MLA Caitu Silva has demanded that Churchill along with his family should immediately leave Goa for Portugal.
He also demanded that Churchill apologise to Goans in general for keeping the people in the dark that his wife and children had acquired Portuguese citizenship. Incidentally, Churchill had demanded an apology from Caitu when the Union Home Ministry had ruled that the Benaulim MLA had ceased to be an Indian citizen.
He took strong exception to Adv Radharao Gracias’ statement that he (Caitu) has admitted that he is a Portuguese citizen. “First of all,
I am not in any way connected to the complaint filed by Elvis Gomes. Secondly, there is no question of I admitting that I have a Portuguese citizenship when I have never registered my birth in Portugal”, Caitu said.
