PONDA: The Ponda Vikas Samiti (PVS) has declared its support to the Bandora locals agitating against the Sanatan ashram at Ramnathi. It also criticized the Goa government’s “ridiculous and irresponsible” statements about postponing action until the Maharashtra government’s report on rationalist Govind Pansare’s murder.
The PVS opined that Goa, being a separate State, should immediately probe the “suspicious” activities of the Sanatan ashram at Ramnathi and not wait for Maharashtra’s report.
PVS president Ram Cuncolker claimed that in many murder or bomb blast incidents, the needle of suspicion pointed towards Sanatan seekers, and that the NIA, SIT or police from other States visited the ashram as part of their inquiry.
He further alleged that the Sanatan headquarters has been creating communal tension since its establishment and that the thoughts and actions of its members are against the ideology of Hinduism, which preaches brotherhood. He added that the members are opposing the English language in Goa.
Cuncolker also questioned why media persons are not allowed inside the Sanatan ashram.
PVS secretary Milind Madgut stated that the ashram is destroying the peace and unity in Ramnathi and that the panches supporting the ashram were causing a rift amongst the people.
He added that the local panch, who is opposing the ashram, is representing the people, and as such, her opinion and demand should be given weight.
