MAPUSA: People, especially senior citizens going for a evening walk on the ground of Peddem Sports Complex demand sports ministers to reschedule their timing of walk.
Walkers said that the change in timing is causing inconvenience to them especially senior citizens.
Prasad Barde said, “We come here for fitness but timing for walk has been changed. Earlier the timing of opening the ground for public was 5pm but now it is changed to 6pm. This is done by newly appointed sports minister during his visit to the stadium after the athletes gave them these inputs,” said Barde.
“People of all age as well as budding sports persons come here but this change in time will cause problem especially when the day becomes short. At present the sun sets late but after the rains, it will become dark by 6 pm when it will cause problem to the people especially senior citizens,” said Barde.
Prabhakar Gawas another local said, “We were assured that separate track will be constructed for the walkers however till date it has not happened. Now the timing has been chanced. We demand that the timing should be rescheduled to 5pm.
A youth Malvika Naik said, “We want the ground to be opened for walk by 5pm”.
