CANACONA: A 21-year-old boy arrested by Canacona police for allegedly raping a minor girl from the taluka has been remanded in judicial custody till January 23.
It may be recalled that on the disclosure of the name of the rape accused by the minor victim girl, Canacona police had arrested Sameer Velip, a resident of Cola in Canacona on January 5.
The Judicial Magistrate First Class, Margao had remanded him in police custody till Tuesday.
On the expiry of the remand, the accused was produced before Children Court in Panjim which remanded him in judicial custody at Central Jail, Colvale for 14 days.
Meanwhile, another boy from Canacona on whom a case of kidnapping of the same victim is registered is still at large and police are making efforts to nab him, sources said.
