CANACONA: Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar promised to hasten developmental work during his whirlwind tour of Canacona constituency on Saturday.
During his first official visit after becoming the chief minister of Goa, Parrikar visited most of the panchayats and later in the evening interacted with all the elected representatives of various bodies in the presence of heads of govt departments.
In the backdrop of the Lok Sabha elections in 2019, Parrikar, together with South Goa MP Narendra Sawaikar, general secretary Sadanand Shet Tanawde, ex-MLA of Canacona Vijay Pai Khot, Prakash Velip and other local office bearers of BJP met the party workers all over the taluka.
The chief minister was given a grand reception at Gulem by BJP Yuva Morcha after which he proceeded to Agonda where he interacted with party workers at a community hall at Davalkhazan.
Later, he visited Mallikarjun temple at Sristhal and sought blessings after which he attended a meeting of party workers at Sristhal panchayat hall.
During the second half of the day, the CM visited and interacted with the party workers at Cotigao, Gaondogrem, Poinguinim, Iddar, Mahalwada and Talpona jetty wherein he listened to the grievances and addressed the party workers. The CM also visited a bird festival being held at Cotigao.
In the evening the CM met the elected representatives of panchayats, municipality and the MLA of Canacona in the presence of heads of all govt departments. During the interactive session MLA of Canacona Isidore Fernandes presented a memorandum to the CM thanking him for the efforts and the interest he is taking to sanction various works of public interests in the taluka. The memorandum included a request for upgrading Canacona community health centre, construction of a modern playground, sanitation facilities, fire service station and implementation of forest rights acts.
CM’s hectic schedule ended later in the evening with the inauguration of a BJP office at Chaudi to facilitate implementation of various govt schemes to the people of Canacona.
