CORTALIM: CDJ Ribandar (Albert developers) defeated Navelim Sporting 4-2 via tie-breaker in the final to clinch the 24th Cortalim Villagers Cup football tournament, organised by Cortalim Villagers Sports and Social Welfare Association, at Cortalim Church ground, recently.
There were no scores in regulation time as both dished out good brand of football skills but the defence guarded the goal area well.
In the resultant tie-breaker, CJD Ribandar Albert Developers scored through Krish Nanath Shirodkar, Salv Santos, Devendra Murgaokar and Octavio Miranda while Navalim Sporting converted through Aulon Gomes and Mobin Gomes.
The winners were awarded Rs 40,000 and a trophy while runners-up had to be content with Rs 30,000.
Chief guest Roquezinho D’Souza gave away the prizes to the winners and runners-up in the presence of Cansaulim deputy sarpanch Jose Mario Furtado, Dilip BN Bandodkar and other dignitaries.
