Yet another leopard trapped in Cuncolim

Yet another leopard was trapped at the Cancanamodi area of Cuncolim in the wee hours of Wednesday.
This is the second leopard trapped by the forest officials after locals sighted movements of wild cats in the locality.
Locals had complained that the leopards, who were on the prowl in the locality for months now, had devoured around 28 pigs and dogs. A leopard was trapped in the area last month and had laid another trap after locals had sighted three more leopards moving in the locality.
A local youth Samson Fernandes told newsmen that another two leopards are on the prowl in the area and praised the forest officials for successfully trapping two leopards within a month’s time in the locality.
He said the leopards had made life difficult for the local residents as they lost around 28 pigs, besides canines at the hands of the wild cats.
His mother appealed to the forest officials to catch the remaining two leopards so that the children as well as the domestic animals are safe in the area.
Forest officials said the leopard, aged between 3-4 years, will be released in the wild forest at Mollem after checked by the veterinary doctor.
