PONDA: The Kavlem gram sabha on Sunday demanded shifting of the proposed Sewerage Treatment Plant at Surangibhat in Kavlem by GSIDCL.
According to locals they are not against STP but feel that if it is constructed close to their locality it would affect their health and cause pollution. Kavlem Sarpanch Rajesh Kavlekar assured the locals to put forth their grievances before the government authorities.
The locals also said the acquired paddy field to set up the STP project can be utilised for garden or children’s park at Kavlem.
The locals also demanded strict action against people throwing garbage all along the roadside in panchayat area.
