Launching an attack on Power Minister Pandurang Madkaikar, Cuncolim MLA Clafasio Dias has advised him to take tuitions on running the Electricity Department from former Minister Digambar Kamat.
The MLA has conveyed his stern warning that he will support the Cuncolim residents’ agitation on June 2 to protest the power problems. Addressing a press conference, the MLA in the presence of elected representatives of the Cuncolim municipality and the Congress’ Cuncolim Mahila block president said, “There are frequent power failures in the Cuncolim municipal and panchayat areas.
“Areas in my Constituency are facing frequent power cuts on a daily basis especially at night. I have raised this issue several times in the Assembly during Zero Hour and the Power Minister had assured me that he will look into the problem.”
“The people of Cuncolim are irked over frequent power failures and are calling me and complaining that the linesmen in the Cuncolim Electricity Department are not attending to their calls,” he said.
“The people’s anger is growing day by day as they have planned to come on the roads to agitate on June 2 at 9.30 am. I will also support their agitation against the Electricity Department as I am also made to suffer due to power cuts” he added.
