Ponda Veterans strategy of employing five men in the rearguard frustrated the star studded Salgaocar Veterans who were also responsible for the downfall as their strikers missed handful of chances.
Salgaocar created the first threat but striker Vishant Pednekar could not make the most of it.
Ponda goalkeeper Anand Adhonkar excelled throughout with point blank saves, one which included medio Dennis Cabral’s effort.
In the ensuing tie-breaker, Remy Colaco, Ramesh Palkar, Claude Pacheco and Jose Colaco made no mistake and scored from the spot-kick for Ponda Veterans while Anthony Pereira and Dennis Cabral found the mark for Salgaocar Veterans. Sloan Furtado was the chief guest and was introduced to the players by Socorro Coutinho.
