The five-day road safety awareness program organized by the Goa Pradesh Youth Congress got underway on Saturday from the KTC bus stand, Margao.
During the Road safety week 2009, youth Congress activists will visit major towns in the state to spread awareness amongst drivers and the youth. The drive will culminate in a major program, including seminars and workshops for bus, taxi drivers, motorcycle pilots on January 7.
Speaking to Herald, GPYC President Sankalp Amonkar said the drive is being organized top take road safety education to the people and youth of the state. He said the youth are the victims of the road accidents, adding that the ongoing program will cover the youth , besides other sections of society.
Margao Municipal Chairperson Savio Coutinho complimented the youth Congress for organizing the program, expressing confidence that the ongoing drive will drive home the right message to the youth to obey traffic rules.
