Traffic police all set with parking plan for Panjim Shigmo

PANJIM: As the capital city is set to reverberate to the animated beating of Shigmotsav drums, the Traffic Police Department has released a traffic diversion and parking plan for capital city in view of the floats parade beginning from Saturday afternoon. The plan will be operational till the end of the parade.

According to the plan, traffic entering the city will follow the normal route – traffic coming from Altinho to proceed to KTC – Ponda and Margao will be diverted via Corte-de-Oiteiro.
Similarly, traffic from Taleigao to Panjim market and KTC Bus stand will be diverted at Fire Services junction at St Inez via Campal Ganesh temple junction to proceed through D B Marg. Heavy commercial vehicles will be diverted at Madhuban Complex to precede further via Bhatulem.
The plan further mentions that traffic coming from behind Old Secretariat on reaching near Match Corner will not be allowed to proceed to M G Road and will be diverted towards Abade Faria statue to proceed via D B Marg.
The D V road will be made one way for the movement of traffic from Hotel Samrat towards Panjim Church. No vehicles will be allowed to proceed on this stretch from Singbal Book House, as traffic will be diverted via A B road.
While vehicles will be allowed to be parked in the city, none will be allowed to park on the float parade route from Kala Academy, Campal, Caculo Island, 18th June Road, Cunha Rivara road (Municipal garden), M G road and Azad Maidan. All by-lanes connecting 18th June 
Road will be closed for vehicular traffic.
