Substandard material used, maintain police

MARGAO: Did the building contractor Vishwas B Desai use poor quality construction material in the construction of Ruby Residency? The Goa police told the South Goa Sessions Court on Tuesday that investigation has revealed that Desai knowingly with intention used poor quality of construction material for his profit and deliberately allowed the victims to operate and work due to which they lost their lives. “It is revealed during the course of investigation that lot of greyish powder material was seen scattered at the scene of offence which is suspected to be murras, a by-product of crushed gravel, which is available at crushing sites. This material is suspected to be used as a substitute for sand and the same requires to be investigated during custodial interrogation of the applicant.
