VALPOI: Valpoi police arrested two persons for a theft at Velus-Valpoi.
According to Valpoi PI Sanjay Dalvi, a theft had taken place in the house belonging to Shyamsunder Shirodkar at Velus-Valpoi about two months ago, where burglars decamped with gold ornaments like mangalsutra, bangles, chain, earrings and a mobile phone, all worth about Rs 2 lakh.
“Police managed to trace the accused mainly because of the stolen mobile phone. A youth committed the theft and fled to his native place Gadak-Karnataka, where his friend Prakash Sangappa (23) helped him to sell the gold ornaments. So far, we have recovered one mangalsutra and two earrings. Further investigations are on,” PI Dalvi added.
The Valpoi police team who managed to arrest the accused included ASI Padloskar and Police Constables Sujay Patil, Samir Gaad, Amit Gawas, Prakash Gaonkar and Gurudas Mandrekar.
The accused persons have been remanded to six days police custody.
