MARGAO: The Ambelim gram sabha on Sunday resolved to ask the Salcete Block Development Officer to furnish copies of reports submitted by the BDO observer attending the gram sabha meetings.
A resolution calling for the BDO observer report was passed at the meeting, with a plea to the sarpanch to despatch the resolution to the Salcete BDO for necessary action.
The gram sabha, chaired by sarpanch Loretta D’Silva and attended by Velim MLA Benjamin Silva, also adopted a resolution congratulating football player Romeo Fernandes for his outstanding performance in the ISL league and bringing glory for the village. A resolution tabled by former sarpanch Cruz Silva called for the felicitation of Romeo as the outstanding personality of the year.
The panchayat also discussed the question of tax defaulters, especially those who have not paid the rent to the panchayat body for quite some time. It was resolved to give six months to the defaulters to clear the tax or initiate appropriate proceedings against them.
The meeting also discussed on the revision and assessment of house tax to mop up additional revenue for the panchayat body, said Deputy Sarpanch Troy.
