MAPUSA: Olaulim Pomburpa Gymkhana (OPG) edge past Sacchi Footballers 2-1 to enter the final of 2nd Aldona Premier League football tournament organised by Big Mac and Friends Sports and Cultural Club at Quitula ground.
OPG took the lead in the 10th minute from a free-kick taken by Akshay Shirodkar.
In the second half, Sacchi Footballers Girishis Kalangutkar’s short was brilliantly saved by OPG keeper Joel Fernandes.
In the dying minutes, Pawan Devsekar dribbled past host of defenders and short into the goal leaving the OPG keeper no chance.
Just as it seems the game was heading for a tie-breaker Akshay Shirodkar converted his second free-kick to make it 2-1.
Girish Kalangutkar was brought down just outside the goal area but Akash Parwar failed to convert, resulting in OPG’s win. OPG will now meet Young Sports Club, Corjuem.
