It has been noticed that the heavy vehicles continue to ply via Chandor despite the signboard “No Entry for Heavy vehicles “. The trucks laden with coal were stopped by the sarpanch and panchayat office members and the locals from passing through the village.
The South Goa Collector’s order clearly states that no heavy vehicles are allowed to pass through the heritage village. We locals don’t want truck owner’s association to tell us what to do and what not as we know to solve the issues by ourselves.
Paying the road tax doesn’t mean breaking the laws, increasing the pollution and harming the environment. We are allowing trucks laden with construction material in public interest but enough is enough.
These trucks often overtake at high speeds thereby putting the lives of innocent people at risk.
I request our local MLA to stand up to protect the interest of people of Chandor. Safety comes first.
