PANJIM: Notwithstanding opposition
from Chimbel villagers, Deputy Chief Minister Francis D’Souza, who holds the
Health portfolio, on Tuesday said the government will go ahead with three
projects at Chimbel – IT park, ESI Hospital and Ayush District Hospital.
D’Souza went on to state that since
the land, where the projects are proposed, belongs to the Health Department,
the question of taking people into confidence does not arise.

Speaking to media persons, D’Souza
said, “We have given the land for three government projects – IT Park, ESI
Hospital and Ayush District Hospital. It is my land and hence where is the
issue of taking people’s consent? Why do we need to take people into
confidence?”
This is in compete contradiction to the
assurance Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar had given that the government would
not go ahead with the proposed IT park at Chimbel without taking along the
villagers and the panchayat on the project. The Chimbel gram sabha has resolved
to oppose the IT park and other government projects proposed in the village.
