PANJIM: The government has cleared the 90:10 pattern for allotment of shacks from this tourism season for a period of three years and the tourism department will be inviting applications through media advertisements Tuesday.
“The shack policy is being notified tomorrow,” said a top official in the tourism department adding that the process of inviting applications from shack operators will commence and the entire process will be wrapped up within the next two weeks.
The allotments will be done by draw of lots and sealed for a period of three years.
The policy will now notify allotment of 90 per cent shacks to those having more than three years of experience, while 10 per cent will be allotted to those having less than three years experience and new comers.
Shack operators are awaiting the final notification and said they will take a call thereafter.
The operators remain divided over the allotment process even though many do not want any legal tangles to delay the allotment process.
TOURISM DEPARTMENT AND DRISHTI BEGIN TALKS: Meanwhile, the tourism department and Drishti Group began discussions on Monday to resolve several pending issues that have been irking the service provider during the last three months.
Senior officials of the company are here in Goa and deliberations appear to be moving in a positive direction.
The tourism department is optimistic that the service provider ~Drishti Special Responses Services) will not withdraw, as a resolution to the tangle appears to be in sight.
