BELGAUM: After enthralling people of Belgaum for two days, international kite fliers from different countries will now entertain people of Goa, when 19 international teams from 11 nations will display their skills at Miramar Beach during the two-day festival from January 21.
The fifth edition of the International Kite Festival that concluded in Belgaum on Monday received enthusiastic response, even as a large number of Goans visited the city to witness the event.
The 19 international teams from 11 nations will now display their skills at Miramar Beach during the two-day festival, organised by Parivartan Group, Belgaum, under the leadership of former Belgaum MLA Abhay Patil. Kites of different shapes and sizes will adorn the Goan skies during the two-day festival.
Goa’s Tourism Minister Dilip Parulekar will inaugurate the festival, which is being supported by Goa’s tourism department.
“International kite flyers from countries like Ukraine, Poland, United Kingdom, Russia, Estonia, Argentina, Indonesia, Belgium and Malaysia will participate in the festival. About 40 Indian kite flyers from Kerala, Gujarat, Maharashtra, and Karnataka and West Bengal will also display their skills during the festival in Goa,” Abhay Patil told Herald.
“Kites in various shapes and sizes, including birds, butterflies, animals and cartoons will be flown during the event. Kites with faces of deities
are also part of the Indian contingent of kite fliers. The festival will continue till late night as illuminated kites will be flown at night on both the days,” he added.
