PANJIM: Two Indian engineers of the Pai Kane group, who were stranded in Iran since December 2013, returned to India Monday, Atul Pai Kane, Managing Director of Power Engineering (India) Pvt Ltd said.
“Our engineers who were detained illegally, have reached back to India today,” Pai Kane told media persons, saying that the company had fought the cases of theft and sabotage filed against. On both counts the engineers were completely exonerated, he informed.
“All accusations are dropped and we have got them back as citizens of India,” Pai Kane said.
The two engineers – Vadodara resident Sanket Pandya and his colleague Mohammed Hussain Khan from Haryana – were stranded in Iran since December 2013.
Passports of both Pandya and Khan were allegedly seized by a private engineering firm in Iran’s Zanjan city over a business dispute with Power Engineering as both were part of the team sent to Iran for supervision of installation and pre-commissioning of a power plant being set up in Zanjan by the private company.
The engineers were trapped in Iran since December 2013. In January last year, both were shifted to a hotel in Tehran after they were released from a guest house in Zanjan, where they were earlier confined.
