PANJIM: Former Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar has suggested that schools start online classes by June 21.
He also added that board exams should not have been cancelled as they are a vital opportunity for students to ‘see where they stand’ and that it’s a stepping stone for their future.

Regarding online classes, he said schools should not wait for the government order as education never stops. He gave the example of how in his school, they have prepared 15-minute-videos for their students. He added that all SOPs are being followed and that this short video pattern should be followed so that students are not on their mobiles for long.
He opined that the offline classes should resume by Ganesh Chaturthi if the government takes such a decision, while emphasising that there is no substitute for teaching in physical classrooms; and that online classes cannot continue permanently.
Parsekar, who is also leading the committee examining the National Education Policy (NEP) said NEP won’t be too affected by the pandemic.
