Don Bosco prove it in sudden death

PANJIM: Don Bosco, Fatorda marched into the quarter-finals of 1st All Goa Ciabro Alemao memorial inter-village football tournament defeating Immaculate Conception Sporting Club 8-7 in the sudden death at Varca Sports Club ground, Varca, on Sunday. In the first half, the teams failed to score.

Don Bosco and Immaculate Conception though did not produce any goals, they played an attacking football. Immaculate Conception had an opportunity to take lead in the very first minute but their forward’s shot was well saved by Don Bosco goalkeeper. 
Within a minute of second half, Immaculate Conception took the lead when their forward Poly Oliveria taking advantage of confusion inside the Don Bosco box slotted home an easy goal. 
The goal however did not deter the confidence of the Don Bosco players. They kept playing the attacking game and their efforts paid off when Christopher Borges headed in a cross from the right to make it even. 
After the equaliser, Don Bosco got even better and made lot of threatening moves in the Immaculate Conception half. However, the regulation time did not see any more goals and the score read 1-1. 
Even the penalties produced no results as the players from both the teams converted all their spot kicks after that the match had to be decided on sudden death. 
Don Bosco scored in the penalties and sudden death through Alfred Norhona, Charlton Pereira, Cliff Baretto, Joel Camara, Michael Falerio, Vincent Barbosa and Harlem Furtado. Sheldon Rodrigues, Anthony Dias, Manesh Oliveria, Godfrey Rodrigues, Melvito Fernandes and Poly Oliveria while Sheldon Rodrigues, Anthony Dias, Manesh Oliveria, Godfrey Rodrigues, Melvito Fernandes and Poly Oliveria were on target for Immaculate Conception. In the sudden death, Soccor Colaco missed for Immaculate Conception.
