PERNEM: Even as the people of Pernem are battling to get proper water supply for their day-to-day use, a Government Primary School (GPS) Ozari has not received a single drop of tap water for almost two months now.
Taps of the GPS Ozari have been running dry since the day the school reopened for this academic year. The situation is such that the school has to collect rain water for daily use of children. Parents informed that even after writing letters and oral requests to authorities concerned, the issue has not been resolved.

“We wrote letters as well as orally requested the authorities concerned for action, but we are only getting assurances. We are collecting rainwater for use in toilets and other activities but for drinking purposes, water is borrowed from neighbouring houses,” a PTA member said.
“Several times, we approached the authorities and every time we got new excuses. First they said the pipeline is damaged, next time they said the pump has fallen into the well. They are also saying that since the school is located in an elevated area, there is low pressure in water supply. Hence, water doesn’t reach the school. Authorities are only playing a blame game,” another PTA member Santosh Gad said.
“Water is required for consumption as well as cleaning and toilet use,” another PTA member said.
