PANJIM: The State government has fast-tracked its move to set up a permanent campus for the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) at Sanguem with the current Director of the institute to soon inspect the proposed site.
Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant on Monday said that Director IIT will inspect the land at Sanguem which is proposed to set up the IIT Goa campus.

Last month, the Chief Minister had said that land for the IIT Goa campus has been identified in Sanguem while assuring that preference will be given for Sanguem. The documentation and verification have been in process since then.
“Once the documents are verified and everything is found to be in order, the location will be finalised. But definitely, Sanguem will be our preference for setting up the IIT,” Sawant was quoted as saying then.
Social Welfare Minister Subhash Phaldesai welcomed the decision adding that two sites were identified for the IIT project and the process will be finalised within the next two months.
He said efforts are on to set up the IIT campus soon taking all stakeholders into confidence.
