MAPUSA: Aldona Deputy Sarpanch Sakrudini Pole along with five other panchas protested outside the Aldona Village Panchayat building requesting the Directorate of Panchayat to depute full time Secretary for the panchayat.
The panchas took this step after the previous secretary was transferred and new secretary was given additional charge of the Aldona village Panchayat, who fails to remain present in the panchayat without prior information.
Deputy Sarpanch Pole informed that since the time the new secretary has taken charge, the day to day works of the panchayat are hampered. Since our panchayat jurisdiction is big with 11 panchas, new secretary must remain present in the office from 9 am to 1 pm on all working days. However, most of the time he remains absent, and also fails to inform us about it.
“On Friday, two site inspections were prescheduled and notices of the same were issued to the concern party three days in advance but since the secretary did not turn up, we had to cancel the inspection,” Pole said.
Panch Deepak Naik said, “Since our panchayat jurisdiction is big with 11 members we had given written representation to the Directorate of Panchayat and have requested to depute full time secretary since the new secretary fails to remain present. After which the Directorate of Panchayat had directed the new secretary to remain present in the panchayat from 9 am to 1 pm on all working days but even after that the secretary fails to remain present.”
“Due to this the administrative work of panchayat gets hampered. People are suffering because of the absence of the secretary and are forced to return back without completing their work at the panchayat. We request the Directorate of Panchayat to depute a full time secretary,” Pole added.
