The general manager and chief public relations officer (PRO) stated that the Chief Minister of Goa had demanded that the Konkan Railway (KR) track in the State be doubled and that suburban-like services connecting different KR stations in Goa State be started.
KRC officials recalled that the CM had stressed the need for starting at least one or two DEMU services without waiting for the doubling of tracks.
“Taking this into account, Railways Minister Suresh Prabhu had instructed KRC to look into the feasibility of a DEMU service at the earliest. One DEMU service connecting Pernem in Goa shall be introduced very soon,” said KRC PRO Baban Ghatge, adding.
