PONDA: At Curti, Ponda on Monday, a Delhi registered car hit another and fled towards Usgao direction. When police constable Sagar Patekar identified the car at OPA Khandepar it showed hand signal to stop it. Instead of stopping, the car hit the constable and escaped. The car then rammed into tree near Amigoes Hotel, Dharbandora and the car caught fire. The driver was about to flee when he was apprehended by the staff of Ponda and Collem Police Station.

Police rescued the injured car driver Akshut Agarwal, and hospitalized him for treatment. Later the driver was arrested. .
According to Ponda Police at 11.11 am they were informed about the accident. So sooner the information was received than HC Sinari along with staff proceeded towards the spot to conduct the formalities. Reaching the spot police gathered that Toyota bearing registration No. DL 7395 gave dash to one car bearing reg. No. GA 04 E 2414.
HC Sinari conveyed the message to the Ponda PI Vijaykumar Chodankar and the said messages were thereafter conveyed to PCR vans. PC Sagar Patekar at OPA Khandepar Junction identifying the car tried stopping it when the unfortunate incident happened with him.
