PANJIM: Goa recorded its second wettest day on Tuesday with 5.22 inches of rainfall being received for the day as State’s total showers reports 39 per cent surplus for the current season so far.

As per the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) Goa Observatory data, September 22, till 8.30 in the morning, turned out to be second wettest day after it received 5.22 inches (132.7mm) of rainfall.
June 17 has been the wettest day for the season so far with 5.6 inches (137.2mm) of rain.
Extensively heavy rainfall lashed the State on Monday with almost all the stations recording rainfall above four inches. Mormugao witnessed the highest 7.8 inches of rains, followed by Panjim (6.8 inches) and Dabolim (6.4 inches).
Since June 1 till date, the State has recorded 158.71 inches of rain as against the normal average of 114.33 inches during the period.
So far, the month of September has recorded 23 inches of rain, while the month of June recorded 42 inches of rain; July crossed 50 inches and August saw 43 inches of showers.
The South-West monsoon touched the 100 inch mark of rain within just 66 days of the season, the second fastest since 2013.
