Rs 800 crore funds sought from Centre

PANJIM, JAN 19 Chief Minister Digambar Kamat on Wednesday apprised Union Finance Minister, Pranab Mukherjee the financial needs of Goa while demanding a special financial package of Rs 800 crore for taking up various infrastructural works.

Chief  Minister Digambar  Kamat on  Wednesday  apprised Union Finance Minister, Pranab Mukherjee the financial needs of Goa while  demanding  a  special  financial package of  Rs 800  crore  for taking  up  various   infrastructural works.
The chief  minister  presented  the  financial  needs  to  the  Union  finance minister   in Delhi  ahead  of  the Goa budget 2011-12,  emphasizing  that  Goa  needs   more  funds  to expedite   some  of  its  major   infrastructural projects  such  as   building of  Convention   Centre,  beach  management,  Mopa airport et al.   In his 10 minutes  speech  the chief  minister  is  also  learnt  to have demanded more funds
Highlighting  Goa’s  achievements,   Kamat said Goa needs  more  funds to  further  boost  sectors  such as  agriculture, education, water resource, health  and tourism.
Chief   Secretary  Sanjay  Srivastava and   Finance  Secretary,  S Kumarswami  were  also  present  for the  meet.
