MAPUSA: Congress spokesperson Sanjay Barde lodged a complaint at the Mapusa Police Station against the Electricity Department for illegally issuing power connections to scrapyards in Colvale.
Barde said that as per the Right to Information obtained from the Colvale Village Panchayat, there is not a single scrapyard which has a licence and there are around 51 scrapyards operating illegally here.

“When a common man approaches the Electricity Department, he has to submit a list of documents to obtain a simple domestic connection, if not then the application gets rejected. So, if a common man is facing these issues, then how come do these owners manage to obtain the commercial electricity connections without producing any documents,” wondered Barde.
