PANJIM: ONGC, BPCL, IOC and HPCL entered the semi-finals of PSPB Inter-Unit T20 cricket tournament organized by ONGC.
The first nail biting match between IOC and BPCL ended with a draw, with two runs required of last ball BPCL managed to score only one run. Batting first, IOC got off to a poor start, as its star players Ajay Ratra 4, Wasim Jaffer 7, and Siddesh Lad 2, lost early wickets. However, Pujara’s 78 guided the team to 173 for 6 in 20 overs. Aavishkar Salvi took two wickets for 25 runs in four overs for BPCL.
In reply, Surya Kumar Yadav’s 66 runs helped BPCL reach target losing five wickets in 20 overs.
In the second match played at Arlem, OIL trashed NRL by 103 runs. Batting first, OIL posted a huge target of 206 losing two wickets in 20 overs, with the help of Sunil Gogoi’s 83 not out off 59 balls and Abu Ahmad 65 in 35 balls.
Chasing the target, Eebon Datta’s 38 in 43 balls failed to guide his team to victory as they were restricted for 103 losing nine wickets in 20 overs.
In the third match at GCA, Porvorim between ONGC and EIL, ONGC blasted 294/4 in 20 overs. Mithun Manhas’s 108 in 35 balls with (11x 4) and (9×6), and Milind Kumar’s 39 (retired out), Praveen Kumar’s 13, Amit Mishra’s 20 not out and Rahul Tewotia’s 29 not out contributed to the huge score. Nikilesh, Rajkiran and Aditya Vikram took one wicket each.
Chasing the difficult total EIL were bundled out for 96/7. Munish Jolly scored 40 for EIL but in vain. Ishant Sharma playing his first match took one wicket for 19 runs, where as Praveen Kumar took two wickets for eight runs and Sarandeep Singh took three wickets for 14 runs.
In the last match played at Arlem, HPCL outplayed MRPL by 28 runs to book their place into the semi-finals. Batting first, HPCL managed to put up 141 at the loss of seven wickets.
In reply, MRPL was restricted for 113 at the loss of seven wickets.
