BICHOLIM: The water level at Anjunem dam has risen to 92.84 metres due to heavy rains in Bicholim and Chorla. However, authorities say the situation is under control.
After incessant and heavy rains lashed the State last month, water was released from Anjunem dam and this led to flooding in parts of Bardez and Pernem talukas.
Meanwhile, to prevent flooding, authorities have started pumping out the excess water from Walvanti River at Sanquelim.
And the Tillari Irrigation authorities have also alerted people residing along the banks of River Chapora at Sal as water may be released from Tillari dam if rains continue to lash the area.
Bicholim Mamlatdar Pravinjay Pandit, the in-charge of the taluka disaster management cell, informed that though there was rise in water level the situation is under control.
“The water level at Anjunem dam is 92.84 metres. To bring the situation under control, water is released at 24.543 cusec,” Pandit said.
It is learnt that Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant has already instructed Tillari dam authorities to alert the people before releasing water.
