Old age home opened in Saligao

PORVORIM: Stating that old age home is the home of senior citizens, Chief Minster Manohar Parrikar said the senior citizens are compelled to go to old age homes due to some circumstances and they should be treated with dignity and respect.

PORVORIM: Stating that old age home is the home of senior citizens, Chief Minster Manohar Parrikar said the senior citizens are compelled to go to old age homes due to some circumstances and they should be treated with dignity and respect.
Parrikar was speaking after inaugurating 10th Old Age Home of the Institute of Provedoria at Saligao.
“Once old people enters old age home, it the responsibility of the Provedoria staff to take their utmost care so that they are not felt lonely and dejected,” he said.
“When I took over the Department of Provedoria, it was not being managed properly. The property donated by the people was being misused and some of it was even sold. Now the administration has improved a lot and needs further improvement,” said Parrikar.
Tourism Minister Dilip Parulekar thanked Jose Caetano Valente Da Gama and his wife Maria Generosa Pamela Da Gama for donating their ancestral house to the Provedoria. Saligao Sarpanch Eknath Oroskar also spoke. Director of Provedoria P K Patidar welcomed while Balkrishna Prabhu Dessai compered.
