CURCHOREM: Some telephone customers from Tilamol have complained that the phone lines in the Tilamol market are not functioning for several days.
The customers said they complained to the telephone exchange but till now nothing has been done to restore the connectivity.
Assistant Engineer at Curchorem telephone exchange, Bolade admitted that there was a problem and added that the underground telephone cables laid in the Tilamol market got burnt during the cleaning of gutters by some unknown locals. “We do not have cables in stock to replace the burnt ones but within 2 or 3 days the same will be replaced once we receive the stock from Bambolim,” Bolade assured.
Meanwhile, some residents from Quepem complained on Tuesday that there was a shortage of postal stamps at Quepem post office and therefore they could not post their letters.
When questioned on the shortage of stamps, Postmaster Ulhas Prabhu said on Monday they sold maximum number of stamps and Re 1 stamps got exhausted. “We have stamps of Rs 3 and Rs 4 but we could not sell them due to shortage of Re 1 stamp as stamp of minimum Rs 5 is required for ordinary post. The stamps will be available by Wednesday,” Prabhu assured.
