While the respective villagers have convened the meetings, members of Goans for Dabolim Only (GFDO) have been invited to address the meetings to bring together a powerful force supporting Dabolim as the state’s sole international airport. While Sao Jose de Areal villagers will hold a meeting on November 5 at 6 pm, Cavelossim will follow suit on November 9 at 10 am, followed by Majorda on the same day at 5 pm. GFDO convenor Fr Eremito Rebello said that opponents of the Mopa airport have been in touch with his organisation to hold village-level meetings in their respective villages. “Since the meetings are being organised by the local people, GFDO members will address the meetings when invited by the local organisers”, he said.
Salcete braces up for anti Mopa meets
MARGAO: With the government holding a pre-bid meeting on Mopa airport with the prospective bidders, villagers in Salcete have decided to step up the campaign against the proposed airport and to retain Dabolim as the only international airport for Goa.
