PANJIM: Mayor of Corporation of City of Panaji (CCP) Rohit Monserrate along with CCP Commissioner Agnelo Fernandes on Friday instructed the police and the RTO officials to take stringent action against those who park the vehicles in the capital city in obstructive manner.

Those including casino taxis will be fined as high as Rs 2,000 for parking in the capital city making it difficult for the citizens to find space to park their vehicles. He informed that the inspection was carried out upon receiving multiple complaints regarding difficulty in parking from the citizens of Panjim.
Monserrate said that the casino taxis operated to give pick and drop service to the casino visitors tend to park the vehicle inside the city instead of using the multi-level car parking facility resulting in traffic obstruction.
“As per the rule, the casino taxis are not allowed to park anywhere in the city area but outside. CCP will not tolerate such things. We have decided to carry out routine inspections to instill traffic discipline in the city,” Monserrate said.
