The Deputy Collector & SDO, Sub-Division Mapusa, passed the order, following a complaint by some persons over the controversial filling of paddy field at Calangute. The order issued by the Deputy Collector & SDO stated that, ‘The checklist filed by the complainant is allowed. The respondent shall remove the mud from the said property in Calangute and restore the land to its original position within 30 days from the date of order, failing which the Mamlatdar shall execute the order and recover the cost as arrears of land revenue.’
As per the order, the complainants filed a complaint along with photographs stating that Subhash Salgaonkar dumped mud in the paddy field without obtaining conversion Sanad or permission under Section 17-A of Town and Country Planning Act, thus converting the agriculture land into non-agricultural land. Salgaonkar however subsequently denied the land filling stating that he does not know who has dumped mud in the property purchased by him in 2011.
Talathi Dattatram Kamat in his report stated that the land filling was done four years back. The digital photographs produced by the complainants however proved the illegal filling of land.
