PANJIM: The Directorate of Food and Drugs Administration (FDA) has taken the initiative of promoting Digital Mitras in Goa thus creating entrepreneurial opportunities to Goan professionals in the food safety domains.
The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) has launched the “Food Safety Mitra” scheme to help what they have described as “Food Business Operators” with their licensing and registration training and auditing, hygiene, etc.

Digital Mitras as individuals with entrepreneurial mind set and IT skills, will help food business persons in new application for licensing and registration, online correspondence regarding queries raised by authorities, filling of modification applications, annual returns, etc. To facilitate the certification and registration an online training programme will be held on May 7. Interested candidates having the necessary skill set can register on the link on Goa FDA’s website.
Candidates are required to pay a registration fee of Rs 500 and register well in advance before the day of training.
The training is compulsory and the candidates need to clear the evaluation test to enroll as Food Safety Digital Mitras.
On successful completion of the exam, a deposit of Rs 5,000 is payable through the same portal, which is refunded wherever the Food Safety Mitra chooses to surrender this registration.
