PANJIM: Stating that sale of land to outsiders has reduced drastically in the last four and a half years, Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar said that the people are not taking his government for granted.
“As Chief Minister I have been pursuing this matter with sub registrars and in the last four years there is nothing objectionable I could find,” Parsekar stated. “People are now serious and alert. They now know they should not sell and know the government will not tolerate such acts of selling lands to outsiders. Hence, they are not taking government for granted,” he said. Asked about his party’s U-turn on special status, he said, special status requires constitutional amendment and isn’t practical. “Just because the BJP is ruling at both State and Centre it isn’t possible to grant special status,” he said.
When asked why the government passed a resolution in the Assembly for Special Status, he said “The viewpoint can change. After experience and discussion you come to know the practicality and you have to change with time.”
The chief minister also said that the cabinet has approved the regularisation of 21 vocational teachers working in different institutions on contractual basis and that it has rejected the recommendations of seven medical insurance officers in ESI hospital.
