Parties seen violating ECI norms

More than 5 persons used for door-to-door campaign

MAPUSA: Political party leaders of BJP, Goa Forward, Congress and others were seen violating the norms laid by Election Commission of India (ECI) that only five people are allowed for door-to-door campaign. Hundreds of people from Pernem and Bardez taluka were seen participating in the door-to-door election campaign of local party leaders in their constituencies.

Several would be candidates of different political parties on Sunday commenced their door to door election campaign. Some of them are Deepak Kalangutkar of Goa Forward Party who commenced his door to door campaign from Parse, Kedar Naik from Congress started his from Guirim and Dayanand Mandrekar, likely to be candidate of BJP in Siolim, commenced his door to door campaign.

During their door to door campaign, hundreds of people were witnessed and completely violating the norms laid by ECI which say only five persons are allowed for home campaigns.

With rising Covid cases in the State, it’s high time that strict implementation of the norms laid down by concerned authorities is a must for the political parties, a voter said.
