PANJIM: Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar on Tuesday said that the Karnataka government is not putting its best efforts to resolve the Mhadei issue.
The Dharwad Bar Association met Parrikar and Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar, at BJP headquarters, to impress upon the duo for an out of court settlement.
Parrikar, while interacting with the delegation stated that the Karnataka government was not serious on the issue.
“The matter is before the tribunal and we cannot do anything,” Parrikar told the delegation.
He stated that instead of meeting the prime minister and trying to put pressure, the Karnataka chief minister must speak to Goa chief minister and sort out the issue. “I can’t do much on the issue,” he said.
The Dharwad Bar Association in their appeal said that the areas around Dharwad and Hubli are badly hit due to scarcity of drinking water and the Goa government should agree for an out of court settlement.
