PORVORIM: The renovated heritage building that formerly housed the St Mary’s school could soon be featured on postal stamps, with the Mapusa Municipal Council (MMC) agreeing to a proposal of the Postal department.
In a MMC meeting on Friday, the councillors were informed that the Postal department had sent a proposal to MMC indicating its desire to come out with postal stamps to commemorate the shifting of the municipal office to the renovated heritage St Mary’s building,
The MMC would, however, have to pay Rs 10,000 to the Postal department by way of royalty and an additional amount of Rs 5,000 towards printing of 1,000 stamps.
After deliberating in the matter, the councillors later consented to the proposal.
