Cross Boys ease past Consua

VELSAO PALE: Cross Boys, Vasco defeated Parish Youth Association, Consua 4-2 in the GFA Second Division League football match, played at Velsao ground, on Monday.
The Vasco team started the match on the front foot and had the first shot at the rival goal in the fifth minute when striker Gaurav Gosavi took control of the ball from central defender Sachin Patil and enter the Consua box, but the formers goal bound shot was thwarted by rival defender Frankie Monteiro.
In the tenth minute, Consua striker Menino D’Sa tested the rival goalkeeper Reaston Cardozo with his long range effort but the custodian was equal to the task to keep the scores intact. 
With the midfield struggling to keep possession, Cross Boys Coach Peter Soares introduced Akbar Sheikh from the bench which brought in life in the Vasco team.
Cross Boys, Vasco broke the deadlock in the 27th minute when substitute Akbar laid Clinton Pacheco in the rival box and the latter left footer gave no chance for the rival keeper, 1-0.
Within six minutes, Cross Boys doubled the lead through Srigth M, whose low grounder kept the rival keeper at bay off Leevan Pinto assist.
Clinton Pacheco further inflated the tally for Cross Boys by scoring his brace in the 40th minute.
In the next minute, Consua pulled a goal back through Menino D’Sa when the striker tapped in Agnes Vaz low cross.
The goal brought life in Consua camp as the team pressed hard in search of another goal and were rewarded just before the break when Mable Mesquita caught Cross Boys defence napping and scored a solo goal, after dribbling past entire Vasco defence in the 43rd minute to make it 2-3.
Changing ends, Cross Boys started the match on the cautious note however they were gifted with two glorious opportunities in the 47th and 49th minutes respectively but Preetesh Mayenkar was the culprit on both occasions as the striker failed under pressure to keep his composure infront of the rival goal.
In the final third of the game, Consua pressed into rival territory with long balls and almost earned the equaliser when Gilmaan Carvalho beat the entire rival defence but was denied by goal line clearance from Gaurav Gosavi.
Just as Consua were attacking to find the equaliser, Cross Boys took the game beyond their reach as this time around Preetesh made no mistake to shoot the ball into the back of the nets in the 79th minute to make it 4-2.
