Will Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant rise above politics of compulsion and give Goans justice?
I remember as a child how exciting a rock concert, battle of bands, a KA competition tiatr, an art exhibition or a debate at the Black Box or any foreign band gig at the open air theatre at Kala Academy on the banks of River Mandovi was.

I have had the privilege to host, cover as a journalist and be part of many events at the famed Kala Academy at Panjim-Goa.
I’ve seen Goa’s well designed and premier art and culture institution being put down…so badly put down, that it may never ever be able to rise to its lost glory again.
The Kala Academy in Panjim was just not a beautiful well-designed structure conceived by the genius Charles Correa who was belittled by a hardly famous and little known minister, who had sarcastically mocked the famed architect by the ‘Who Charles Correa?’ statement.
Even if lucky to be elected and made a Minister to attain political stability for the not-so-steady Goa BJP Government in Goa, and who may not be able to, even if he gets elected another time match up to the genius of Correa, whom he poorly mocked when cornered for the utter failure to deliver a long delayed renovated Kala Academy, in a low effort to camouflage his follies and an effort of one-upmanship.
Defiantly, those who are given portfolios for political compulsions can never handle what they get as a political bargain. They are simply inefficient and/or incapable to deliver, besides the commission raj in Goan political circles.
Pride and arrogance can have a bitter fall, the collapsing slab on Monday at Kala Academy has proved, if not the, ‘Kawwa Biryani’, rice in fair price shops from civil supplies ministry after the recent food grain scam in the same department and the consistent ‘flop show’ in the sports department – all but headed by the same minister – are living proof.
Even the Taj Mahal builder Shah Jahan was not spared, although the Taj has withstood the test of time.
This is simply corruption at its best, which Goa cannot afford at this juncture of its growth forays; and if not looped now and the corroborator not made to go home, Goans should be ready for more disasters which may even cause loss of life.
“A cobbler can never be entrusted to do the job of a doctor,” are the golden words of Waiel Ismail, a former Bank Manager from Lebanon in Dubai.
Even if not sacked, it’s the moral duty of the minister in constant failure and controversy to step down, if he has any morals and good intent.
