PANJIM: Goa went down fighting against Hyderabad in the in the Vinoo Mankad Trophy U-19 One Day Limited Overs Zonal League at the Alur Cricket Stadium, Alur, on Sunday.
Goa scored 220 for 6 in the allotted overs which was chased by Hyderabad with 2 overs to spare.
Hyderabad won the toss and chose to field. Aditya Suryawanshi scored 75 runs (n/o) while Heramb Parab scored 38 runs.
Manthan Khutkar scored 37 runs before he was bowled by Aniketreddy. Alam Khan (26), Tunish Sawkar (19), Rahul Mehta (12) were the others who scored against Hyderabad
The Hyderabad bowlers put up a formidable display against the Goan batting line up. Rakshann Readdi and Aniketreddy scalped 2 wickets each while Bhagath Varma settled with a wicket.
Hyderbad got off to a nervy start after the early dismissal of Thakur Tilak Varma for a duck. Sohail Shaikh remained undefeated with 76 runs while Mohd Junaid scored 36 runs after he was caught by Heramb Parab. Pragnay Reddy (30), Aniketreddy (27 n/o), Ajay Dev Goud contributed to Hyderabad’s chase.
The Goan bowlers put in efforts but failed to deliver. Balpreet Singh managed to grab 2 wickets for the side while Heramb Parab, Omprakash Chuahan, Rahul Mehta and Digesh Raiker bagged a wicket each.
