SAO JOSE DE AREAL: Albert Developers, Merces scored a solitary goal win over Cuncolim Veterans to move into the quarter-finals of the 2nd Assolda Veterans football tournament played at Padribhat, Sao Jose de Areal ground, on Saturday.
In the first half, Albert Developers had more ball possession. Baptist D’Mello took control of the ball from Menino Fernandes and shot from close range but Vijay D’Souza of Cuncolim Veterans blocked the shot in the 6th minute.
The all-important goal for Albert Developers came in the 38th minute when Menino took a point blank long ranger shot which travelled straight into Cuncolim Veterans nets.
Ubaldo Noronha of Cuncolim Veterans missed an opportunity in the 40th minute by shooting wide.
Alberto Developers will meet the winners of Bardez Veterans and Fatorda Veterans in quarter-finals on March 29.
