The Minister on Wednesday convened a joint meeting with PWD officials to discuss the acute water shortage faced by the residents of New Vaddem area and other parts of the constituency.

After the meeting, Godinho said, “Boosters at the water tanks were the cause of acute water shortage to the areas in the Dabolim constituency.”

Godinho said, “There are plans to have a water treatment plant to handle the water supply issue. New Vaddem has been facing acute water shortage and I had a meeting with the PWD officials by explaining to them the possible reasons behind this issue. We have come with some solutions and have directed them to take remedial action immediately.”

He said, “The water tank at New Vaddem is ready, but the PWD does not have a pump. I have instructed the PWD to immediately install the pump and feel that before the end of the next week the pump will be in place and people will get the necessary relief.”

“New pipelines have been laid which now need to be interconnected, but it is pending as we have not received NOC from the Railways which we will get before next week. We need another NOC from the Chicalim Comunidade which we will get within 3 days. We will get proper water supply once the new pipeline is commissioned,” Godinho said.

“I also investigated the New Vaddem water supply issue and realised that boosters have been fitted on Mormugao side which is the main reason why the people don’t receive water,” he added.
