In a keenly contested match, both the teams tried their best to score the goal. But some last ditch defending by both the teams kept the scorecard clean at the break.
Changing ends, Our Lady of Health HS played with renewed vigour and managed to score the only goal of the final. In all, 16 of the best under-14 school teams from across the State participated.
Earlier in the day, the tournament was kicked off by Reagan D’Souza.
Chief guest Climax Lawrence, former India captain and guest of honour Francisco Silveira, former MLA of St Andre Constituency gave away the prizes.
Also present were Francisca Rodrigues, wife of late Meccabeus Rodrigues; Fr Fredrick Rodrigues, Principal of Fr Agnel Degree College, Pilar and president of Fr Agnel Youth Centre; Fr Andrew Silveira, Principal of Fr Agnel HSS, Pilar and secretary of Fr Agnel Youth Centre; Fr Richard Crasto, Headmaster of Fr Agnel High School, Pilar.
Other prizes awarded were: Best goalkeeper – Sahil Pathan (O.L.H, Cuncolim), Best defender – Sazvil Sequeira, Best midfielder – Rohan Rodrigues(all O.L.H, Cuncolim), Best forward – Sanford Colaco (Mae Dos Pobres, Nuvem), Player of the tournament – Tristan Fernandes
(Fr Agnel, Pilar), Best disciplined team – St Britto’s High School, Mapusa and Best semi-finalist – Fr Agnel High School, Mapusa.
