The limits of our patience and understandings are being exhausted seeing everyday traffic jams on roads that are dug up leading to in humpty-dumpty, bumpy-jumpy rides when one approaches the bridges.
Many parts of Goa too are in pathetic condition, with motorists having to face difficult situations, besides danger of accidents and damage to their vehicles.
Quite often we see fearful scenes of two to four and even twelve to fourteen-wheelers trucks, besides buses, tempos and rickshaws and private vehicles jostling to go through the never-ending jams.
No doubt the government is trying to do all it’s best to bring about developments and meet the promises made before the Goa Assembly election. However, the promise of good governance is still awaited by the people who are fed up with dirty opportunistic politics, who use and misuse power for their selfish gains.
But how much should we bear? The locals and tourists have to bear the brunt of the miserable roads.
The traffic police manning the traffic situation also have a tough time, often having to go without food or water for hours.
What I fail to understand is that when crores of Rupees are spent each year on repairing the roads, cannot we do a better job and relive citizens of this annual misery? Don’t we have a government that is competent enough to solve our problems?
Why do we have to wait for the monsoons each year, when we know and suffer the outcome each passing year. Why cannot we have advanced meeting and proper planning of higher-ups, government officials and engineers of concerned departments to follow the matter with diligence?
The Minister for Town and Country Planning and Public Works Departments and concerned officials must act to ensure that people are not brought to hardships due to their negligence. We have voted those in power because of the tall promises made during elections and if they cannot fulfill their Goans are said to have patience, but everything has a limit.
I request the concerned authority to act in the interest of Goans, who have been suffering in silence for a long time, for it is never a good idea to test the patience of the conscious citizens.
